Quick one here—so the other day, I accidentally deleted the entire photo folder from my 2019 Okinawa trip – 50th OGKK anniversary ☹. I remember visiting twice that year, so it’s probably why I ended up deleting one folder (because who needs two, right?). And yep, despite having backups of backups of my backups, this one folder still eludes me.
While sifting through my endless collection of folders, I did find one photo (not from 2019, of course). It was a gem of thing - from an early Okinawa trip: a pic of our sensei, looking at us holding our old grading certificates. "Ho? Shodan-ho? nidan-ho? What the eff is a ho?" he asked. Now, I'm sure it was said it much more polite manner. And our response? Well, we didn’t know either. We just chuckled and nodded, like, "Yeah, it’s totally legit."
Ahhh, the good old days—back when "in-between" ranks were just another way to separate you from your hard-earned cash 💸. Anyone else ever copped the ho treatment?
