Across the road from my regular supermarket lies a row of several op shops that I visit religiously after doing the grocery shopping. This personal ritual has taken place for several years now with the store volunteers recognising me. They must presume I'm the local homeless lunatic and wonder why I walk in and out of the store after only 30 seconds - if that long. Well, today was the day! I stayed for an unimaginable 5 minutes and actually purchased something. Each time I am actually on the hunt for nigiri-game (gripping pots/jars) and my persistence has reaped the rewards. I know it's just a silly little pot, but to me, it's something special, something useful, and the pursuit is half the fun.
This little fella will finally join its long lost brother I had for years, sitting all alone. Just like karate, sometimes things simply take a while to connect and work as one. But when they do, boy does it bring a big fat smile to your face.
By the way, I ended up giving the lady a chunky donation more than double the price of the pot..... "Hmmm this guy's gotta be deranged" - I could sense it in her eyes as I was walking out. Well, until next week, see you again!
