So I spent the evening working solely on my beloved eku (The Okinawan oar). Visualising blinding adversaries with sand whizzing through the air while whacking them across the nose, it just brings great pleasure in life. Similar to karate training, the more I do the more every miniscule step I analyse. Unlike Goju however where there are 13 kata all up, there is only the one lonesome eku form in Matayoshi Kobudo. Imagine only ever knowing or practising Gekkisai for the rest of your life because that was all that Goju had to offer. Would you be content? Would you want to explore and seek more? Anyway, spending a good period training on only one weapon - one kata tonight, simply made me think that I would love to learn another eku kata should the opportunity present itself. Am I committing an unforgivable sin? Oh, father please forgive me for such blasphemy! What are your thoughts on this?
