So with the year-end finally approaching, the usual trend begins. Celebrate Christmas, spend more time with family and friends, devour meals in gluttonous ways, consume more alcohol than other fluids, and of course taking a break from training for a month or so (in most cases, due to the dojo closing).
The last part I have never been able to comprehend. Just like brushing your teeth and having a shower, karate too should be incorporated into one’s daily routine in one form or another. Just because your club dojo is closed, doesn't mean you can’t practice your basics or kata at home for as little as 10 minutes a day. When a lengthy period off is taken, progress is lost and consequently, excuses are made. Having said that, OGKK Brisbane Branch Dojos are open year-round :)
Do yourself a favour during the festive season: do something - do anything, throw some punches in the air, punch while watching Netflix, kick a bag, kick a pole, do your kata in front of your dog or favourite plant….. Don’t be inactive nor forget about your training, be responsible for it.
From OGKK Minei Dojo - Australia, have a great Christmas everyone, and stay safe!
