People ask us all the time what it is about Okinawa that we love so much. Are there really that many secret karate techniques that you can find only from a teacher over there? Why do you go so often? Where, What, When, How, blah blah blah..... I remember one person I was training with back in the day who said to me after my first Okinawa trip "Why go to Okinawa when Kiyoshi X still has so much to offer".....Err no he doesn't, only talk talk talk talk.....This pretence that many people seem to have I will never understand.
Anyway, Okinawa is a place that karate-ka must experience once (better still, as much as you can) in your lifetime. I always say it, but Okinawan karate is simply so much more than kicking and punching. It is about the people, culture, and how everything is intertwined into one. Here I'd like to show you a video even though it has absolutely nothing related to karate, but the reason why we treasure Okinawa so much.....
