As most people who have an interest in all things Okinawa are aware of, Shuri Castle was this morning engulfed in flames and a large section ravaged. The pain of witnessing destruction to such a symbolic building is comparable to the death of one's karate master. Such beauty and tradition must be protected. Hopefully, the intangible culture of traditional Okinawan karate too can be protected and preserved for generations to come.
